Edward Spencer, 19, admitted on Tuesday morning (18) that he was responsible for the death of his three friends, aged 17 and 16, in an accident involving a Ford Fiesta on a road in the UK in April 2023.

The students Matilda Seccombe, 16, Harry Purcell, 17, and Frank Wormald, 16, were in Edward Spencer’s Ford Fiesta at the time of the accident that occurred on the A4035 road in the UK. All three died at the scene.

The group was returning home from school when Spencer’s Ford collided with a vehicle carrying a woman and two children, aged 10 and 12. Both children sustained serious injuries.

On Tuesday (18), during a hearing at Warwick Crown Court, Spencer admitted guilt to three charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to the victims.

A source revealed to the DailyMail that Spencer, an enthusiastic rugby player, had passed his driving test about five weeks before the accident.

The three teenagers who died in the crash, as well as Spencer, attended Chipping Campden School, a former grammar school.

Judge Andrew Lockhart KC adjourned the hearing for a pre-sentence report and released Spencer on conditional bail. He warned the defendant that he would face a prison sentence when he returns for sentencing next month.

“There are no words that can express the sense of loss we feel, both as a community and for the close families and friends of Harry, Tilly, and Frank,” said John Sanderson, headmaster of Chipping Campden School.
