A 61-year-old unidentified mechanic was caught in Malaysia for not paying the road tax for his motorcycle for 23 years.
The Road Transport Department seized the vehicle during an operation. The head of the department, Mohammad Yusoff Abustan, found that the last time the tax was paid was in 2002.
“Strict measures will be taken against the motorcycle owner for violating Section 23(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which requires all vehicles to have a valid Motor Vehicle License (LKM) to operate.”
The mechanic tried to justify himself by saying that he only rode within residential areas and avoided main roads.
If found guilty, he could face a fine of up to USD 612 and up to six months in prison, along with other penalties.
