An Air India flight had to return to the US due to clogged toilets during a 14-hour journey.
On March 5, Air India Flight 126, heading to Delhi, was forced to return to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago after 11 of its 12 toilets allegedly became clogged.
The aircraft had traveled nearly five hours into its 14-hour journey when it had to turn back due to the incident. The Air India plane was flying over Greenland and carrying about 300 passengers.
“After landing in Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and were provided accommodation to minimize the inconvenience,” the airline said in a statement.
“Alternative arrangements are being made to take passengers to their destination,” Air India added, offering cancellations with refunds.
Despite the compensation measure, passengers reported difficulties in rescheduling their flights, according to the View From The Wing website.
One passenger told the portal that they used miles to buy a first-class ticket to attend a wedding in India.
“Now we are stuck in a real customer service hell with Avianca, LifeMiles, and Air India trying to get a refund for the miles ticket,” said the frustrated customer.
