24-year-old American racer, Ashlea Albertson, passed away after being involved in a car accident on a highway in Jackson County, in Indiana, United States. Ashlea raced for Tony Stewart’s team, a three-time NASCAR champion.

She and her fiancé, Jacob Kelly, 31, were returning from a holiday when the accident occurred. According to local police, the couple were in a GMC Terrain in the left lane when a Chevrolet Malibu took the right lane. Neither driver yielded to the other.
The Chevrolet, driven by a 22-year-old, veered into the left lane and collided with Ashlea’s car, causing it to leave the roadway. The racer was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jacob, who was driving the GMC Terrain, and the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet Malibu were injured.
Tony Stewart mourned the loss of his team member on social media. “Ashlea had a contagious personality and could light up any room. […] Losing her is a sobering reminder of how precious life is. Please join me in keeping her family and friends in your prayers,” he wrote.
Ashlea Albertson’s last race was on August 11, where she competed in the TQ Midget.
