A traffic guard working at a kindergarten in China has received millions of praises for waltzing with a little girl who was upset because her mother was late.

Liu Jie, a security guard at a kindergarten in Shandong province, China, has gained widespread admiration on social media for comforting a little girl, nicknamed “Little Peach,” by picking her up and waltzing with her when she became upset due to her mother’s delay at work.

The 52-year-old has been working at the small community kindergarten in his hometown for eight years. To cheer up the child, Liu danced with her in his arms and later explained his motivation:

“I want you to go home happy, so your mother won’t feel guilty anymore because you’re smiling,” Liu said in a video shared on his social media.

The post went viral, with many viewers commenting on his graceful dance skills. Liu later revealed that he had been a professional dancer. He studied classical and folk dance in college and performed with a music and dance ensemble for many years.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Liu, who greets and bids farewell to children at the kindergarten every day, shared his passion for working with kids.

“I love children for a simple reason: if you treat them sincerely, they will respond with the same sincerity,” he said.

Over 5 million of his fellow Chinese citizens commented on his video posted on Douyin, the Chinese social media platform. “An interesting soul shines everywhere, no matter the job,” one user wrote.

“An elegant man and a smiling child. What a beautiful image,” another commented.
