The project’s goal is to facilitate the movement of Tesla vehicles. Currently, this system exists only in Las Vegas, where it is known as the Las Vegas Loop.
The Boring Company and Tennessee officials will evaluate potential routes for the underground network. Both parties must resolve bureaucratic issues before officially presenting the project.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration have already granted permission for the project to proceed. There is no timeline yet for the completion of the tunnels.
Elon Musk’s company is also planning the Dubai Loop system — a 17 km underground road network with 11 stations that will be capable of transporting 20,000 passengers per hour in the city of the United Arab Emirates.
