At 34 years old, Jonathan was fulfilling his dream of working as a pilot and was about to land at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport alongside his colleague Sam Lilley. For his family, this is a time of deep sorrow and mourning.

According to the family’s statement to Fox 5, Jonathan Campos was an aviation enthusiast and a dreamer, on the verge of fulfilling his long-cherished wish of going on a cruise aboard the Icon of the Seas. His family was excited to share this unique moment with him, but fate had other plans.

Campos spoke with his family shortly before boarding the American Airlines flight, expressing how excited he was to go on the cruise with them the following week.

His uncle, John Lane, told Dailymail that he was “such a great guy.”

“I spoke to him as he was boarding the plane. We talked for 10 minutes. I can’t believe it. He sounded so happy,” he recalled.

“He was really looking forward to going on a cruise next week aboard the Icon of the Seas, the cruise ship. Ten family members were flying to Florida to take the trip with him. It was going to be a big celebration.”

Jonathan had earned his Certified Flight Instructor title at Epic Flight Academy. His dedication to the skies and commitment as an instructor were widely admired.
