Fire Chief Found Dead Following Investigation into Allegations of ‘Lying’ on Resume

The Chief Fire Officer of West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), Wayne Brown, who allegedly lied about the required qualifications for the job, was found dead at his home.

He was found dead on Wednesday, January 24th, at his residential address. Greg Brackenridge, President of the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority, stated in a release on Wednesday (January 24th): “We are devastated to report that our Chief Fire Officer, Wayne Brown, was found dead this morning (January 24th) at his residential address.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious by West Midlands police. All our thoughts and love are with his family, friends, and colleagues. We ask that his family and colleagues be given time and space at this tragic time.”

The service mentioned that it was investigating claims that he did not possess the necessary degree for the position. His death is not being treated as suspicious, emergency services added.

Brown had been part of the London Fire Brigade for 27 years before moving to West Midlands in 2019. It is known that he secured the job a year ago, impressing with his Master’s in Business Administration from London South Bank University. The university reportedly stated that it has no record of his degree.
