A viral TikTok video captured the moment a Central Park horse was seen running uncontrolled without a carriage driver. The incident occurred on Sunday (18).
More than 373 thousand people watched the video showing a carriage horse crossing Central Park without a driver to control it. Visitors at the location were seen dodging the desperate animal.
The animal was pulling a white carriage with a purple interior and galloped for about half a kilometer.
“I was there with my friend walking on the sidewalk and we were almost run over by the poor horse. It was very scary,” Hayley told NYCLASS.
“My friend and I were walking on the sidewalk, to the right of the Central Park circuit, when I heard many screams and the sound of hooves,” the witness reported.

She says she dodged the animal in a matter of seconds. “We jumped over the wire fence between the sidewalk and the trees as the horse ran past us,” she added.
Hayley said she saw a transport tricycle heading toward the horse with someone in the back seat, who she believed was the driver.
Christina Hansen, union representative of the carriage drivers, said there were no reports of injuries or material damage. She told the New York Post that “there is no evidence” of negligence on the part of the driver.
According to Hansen, the part of the equipment that holds the reins to the horse’s head came loose and the animal ran away before they could reattach the equipment. Investigations are still ongoing.
@mirandamooneyIf you’re against carriage rides in NYC, call your city council member and ask them to call Intro 967 to a vote! (Ryder’s Law bill proposal is no longer active. This is the recent updated legislation).♬ there she goes – 🎸🪩
