A flight operated by IndiGo was en route to Srinagar, Kashmir, on Wednesday (21st) when it was struck by a sudden hailstorm.
“The flight and cabin crew followed established protocols, and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar,” IndiGo said in a statement. Images show that the aircraft sustained damage to the nose of the fuselage.
On Wednesday night, Delhi experienced widespread rain, lightning, and storms.
Passenger Sheikh Samiullah shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, capturing the fear and panic among IndiGo’s crew during the storm, which caused severe turbulence.

Samiullah told the Press Trust of India that the pilot made an announcement instructing everyone to fasten their seatbelts. “The turbulence was so intense that I thought it would be my last flight. Everyone believed we were going to crash,” he said.
“After we disembarked and saw the damage to the plane, it was even more traumatic. I hope no one ever has to go through an experience like this,” he added.
The IndiGo plane landed safely after the ordeal.
