An unidentified passenger suffered cardiac arrest on an EasyJet flight from Tenerife, Spain, to Liverpool, England, on March 25. She died after being unconscious for 50 minutes.
Three passengers, including a nurse, attempted CPR for nearly an hour while the aircraft headed toward Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport.
She was traveling with her husband. “I spoke to her husband afterward and just said, ‘I’m so sorry.’ We tried everything to keep her alive,” said one of the passengers who was traveling with his family.
EasyJet staff provided an oxygen tank and a defibrillator while passengers tried to save her.

“We did our best, but she passed away on board. When we landed, the police, paramedics, and a criminal investigation team boarded the aircraft before everyone disembarked,” the passenger continued.
Passengers were accommodated overnight to continue their journey the following day.
EasyJet offered support and assistance to the victim’s family.
“Our crew is trained to respond to medical emergencies and did everything possible during the flight, along with a healthcare professional who assisted on board,” the airline said in a statement.
