Turkey’s aviation authorities have fined passengers who occupy the aisles during the aircraft disembarkation phase. The fine can be up to US$ 67.

Fines were imposed following an increase in the number of travelers crowding the aisles of airplanes.

“Please respect the disembarkation priority of the passengers in front of you or around you and wait your turn,” said the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Turkey in a statement sent to airlines.

Crew members were instructed to report travelers who disobey the new rules.

The statement also says this behavior poses a risk to “the safety of passengers and luggage,” as well as affecting “the satisfaction and priority of exit” of others.

According to the Washington Post, unfastening the seatbelt while the plane is taxiing or parking is also subject to a fine.

According to the rules, passengers must wait until the disembarkation process reaches their row before they can get up to retrieve their belongings and leave the plane.
