The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collisions occurred on Interstate 84. Photos shared by officials show the highway blocked with a line of vehicles stranded in the snow.
Rescue teams were called to assist drivers who were stuck inside their cars and trucks during the pileup. The exact number of victims injured in the incident is unknown.

“Most of the reported accidents involve minor injuries or no injuries at all,” said an Oregon State Police spokesperson to KATU. “So far, there are no reports of fatal or serious injuries,” they continued.
A couple told the channel they couldn’t avoid the crash. “Visibility was so poor that by the time we saw the stopped traffic, it was too late,” they said.
The Oregon Department of Transportation closed an approximately 80 km stretch of the highway until the snowstorm subsided. The road was later reopened.
