Authorities found a nine-month-old baby severely injured on the road after being ejected from a van during a police chase in Ohio, USA.
The suspect driving the vehicle during the escape was Zachary Chervenka, 32, who had an arrest warrant and was with a five-year-old child and a nine-month-old baby, while his wife was loading the van with groceries. He was seen at Walmart by a witness.
Chervenka accelerated when a police officer approached the vehicle.
“I think he blew a tire. We’re heading south on 127. Warning: the door is open. We’re turning right on the first road after the 15 and 127 split,” the officers said.
The suspect made a sharp turn, and the nine-month-old baby was ejected through the door during the police chase. The video shows the baby bouncing multiple times on the road. The child was taken to the hospital to treat the injuries.
Chervenka managed to escape, and the police abandoned the chase due to bad weather conditions. He called the children’s mother to inform her of where the baby had fallen and that he had left the five-year-old at a friend’s house.
The suspect was charged with fleeing law enforcement and two counts of endangering children.
