A portable charger caught fire inside the luggage compartment of a Hong Kong Airlines plane. The aircraft departed from Hangzhou, China, and had to reroute after the incident.
“Hong Kong Airlines flight HX115, departing from Hangzhou to Hong Kong, diverted and landed safely at Fuzhou Changle International Airport due to a fire, which was successfully extinguished,” the company reported.


A chilling video shows crew members and passengers trying to put out the fire with water bottles. Thin smoke can be seen circulating near the compartment.
The flames did not cause significant damage to the Hong Kong Airlines plane. No one was injured.
