An Australian couple had to sit next to the body of a woman who died during a 15-hour Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne, Australia, to Doha, Qatar.
The unidentified passenger suffered a medical emergency and collapsed in the aisle. The crew performed resuscitation procedures, but she passed away while the aircraft continued its route.
The flight attendants tried to move the body to business class, but due to the woman’s size, they were unable to get it through the narrow aisle. The crew placed her next to a couple seated in a four-seat row.
“‘Could you move over, please?’ and I just said, ‘Yeah, no problem.’ Then, they put the lady in the seat I was in,” said Michael Ring to A Current Affair.

The body was covered with a sheet and remained next to the couple for four hours.
They criticized the lack of support from the crew, who did not offer another seat or emotional support during the incident. There were other empty seats on the aircraft, according to the couple’s reports.
Qatar Airways issued a statement regarding the incident.
“We apologize for any inconvenience or distress this incident may have caused, and we are in contact with the passengers according to our policies and procedures,” they said.
