According to research by Eminent, black suitcases are the most chosen by travelers and tend to be the ones most commonly lost at airports, according to travel expert Jamie Frazer.
“Hard-shell black suitcases are the most common type of luggage worldwide, making them the hardest to identify and the most likely to go missing,” he explained.
Frazer advised choosing more colorful suitcases with visible identification so passengers can locate them more easily if the luggage is misplaced.
“If you are traveling with a hard-shell black suitcase, it’s best to arrive early at the airport and check your luggage well in advance. This gives airline staff more time to properly tag and load your suitcase, reducing the chances of it being lost,” he shared.
He suggested using stickers, identification tags, or opting for suitcases with patterned handles to make them stand out from others.
“Even if your luggage is planned as carry-on, it’s a good idea to attach a secure tag with your contact details. Include your name, phone number, and email on the tag, as these are the fastest ways to reach you,” he added.
