A boat from the Freedom One Racing team, participating in the Desert Storm event, went airborne after reaching a speed of around 200 mph (320 km/h). The incident occurred on Saturday (26) at Lake Havasu, in Arizona, USA.
The team made a Facebook post informing that both the pilot and co-pilot are safe and only “a little bruised.”
According to USA Today, Freedom One Racing is a speedboat team “dedicated to raising funds for charitable causes and organizations.” The boats are customized to be the fastest in the shootout racing format.

The video captures the moment the boat goes “airborne” above the lake after nearing the 200 mph mark. The team reported only minor damage to the light vessel.
Despite the mishap, the Freedom One boat won the race, even “upside down and backwards,” joked the boat’s technician Ryan Olah.
According to USA Today, Freedom One said the boat sustained “a few scratches” and “took flight for the first time” at the Desert Storm Shootout, an annual event showcasing high-performance boats competing on Lake Havasu.
Despite the accident, the team won the race and took home a prize of nearly $20,000 — “even upside down and backwards,” said technician Ryan Olah.
