The 46-year-old MTA operator was attempting to clear the train car, according to the police report and witness statements.
The passenger refused to leave and, in a fit of rage, hurled his metal scooter at the 37-year-old subway conductor present at the scene. The operator sprained his finger while trying to restrain the assailant.
The suspect fled along the subway tracks, crossing a tunnel toward the next station, authorities said.
Both workers were taken to the hospital. The NYPD is searching for a man last seen wearing a gray hoodie and black pants.
