Cobb County police officers, in Georgia, United States, rescued two small children who were locked inside a car under extreme heat in the parking lot of Cumberland Mall in Atlanta.

The children remained in the vehicle for over 40 minutes while the internal temperature exceeded 47°C. The case was only discovered after a woman heard crying coming from inside the car and called emergency services.

Body camera footage from the officers shows the moment the vehicle’s window is broken to remove the children. During the rescue, one of the officers tries to calm one of the visibly heat-affected children.
