On this Sunday (November 5th), the waterfront and bike paths in Leblon and Ipanema, neighborhoods in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were flooded by giant waves due to the rough sea.

The Brazilian Navy issued a warning that waves of up to 3.5 meters in height could reach the coast of the city of Rio de Janeiro by the end of Monday, November 6th.

On social media, people shared the moment when the water flooded the roads and the sand, frightening swimmers and sweeping away everything in its path.
