A disco boat with over a hundred people on board sank in the frozen waters of the Sava river, in Belgrade (Serbia), in the early hours of this Sunday (12/24).

The incident occurred shortly after midnight during a rapper’s performance. Emergency services responded to a report and upon arrival at the scene, they found the boat had started to submerge. Some of the individuals were rescued from the frozen waters of the Sava river.
According to Serbian press, the sinking was preceded by a dispute between visitors and security personnel on the bridge connecting the ship to the shore, which collapsed in the presence of a large number of people.
Disconnected from the shore, the ship lost stability and sank, leaving only a portion of it above the water surface.
Rescue teams evacuated a total of 114 people, including children.
Authorities have initiated actions to investigate the causes of the incident and establish responsibilities.
