A military officer was struck by a fleeing vehicle on the afternoon of Wednesday (13) in Caxias do Sul, a city located in the southern region of Brazil.

Surveillance camera footage shows the exact moment of the accident, around 2:25 pm. The video shows a BM patrol car chasing a Fiat Palio.

Close to an intersection, a BM pickup truck approaches to block the fleeing car’s path. The officer stands in front of the vehicle, gun drawn, seemingly ordering the car to stop.
The driver swerves to avoid another vehicle, hits the officer squarely, and crashes into the pickup truck. From the impact, the officer is thrown into the air.
According to preliminary information from the authorities, the officer sustained a lung puncture and was taken to a local hospital and is expected to undergo a drainage procedure.
So far, the soldier has only been identified as Motta.
