According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred “for an unknown reason during a flight in the skies of Ankara”.

A piece of a F-4 fighter jet fell onto cars in a parking lot of the general directorate of TPAO (Turkish Petroleum Corporation) located in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday. According to Haberturk, it was the reserve fuel tank.

“A part of the F-4 fighter jet belonging to our Air Force Command fell into an open parking lot of TPAO for an unknown reason during its flight over Ankara,” the Turkish Ministry of Defense stated.

No deaths or injuries were reported in the incident. The aircraft safely landed at Eskisehir Air Base, military officials reported.

The base is located about 190 km west of the Turkish capital and hosts the upgraded F-4E 2020 Terminator fighter-bombers.
