Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Sarah Ernstes, along with K-9 Mary Lu, were called to respond to a case in the 16000 block area of Carlton Lake Drive around 8:00 p.m. this Friday, aiming to search for the missing girl.

Ernstes and K-9 Mary Lu managed to track the girl to a neighbor’s house. There, they found out that the residents had given the child a ride to a nearby apartment complex in Wimauma, the sheriff’s office reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, units moved to the indicated location and, upon arrival, K-9 Mary Lu signaled to officers about a locked restroom door in a nearby park.

Officers found the missing girl inside the locked restroom and managed to persuade her to open the door, the sheriff’s office reported.

Fortunately, the girl was found safe and unharmed, without any injuries.
