Stunned residents watched as the wine, almost enough to fill an Olympic swimming pool, swept through the town’s streets.
The leak was so extensive that local authorities issued an environmental alert and were forced to divert the wine to prevent it from contaminating the nearby Certima river.
The responsible company has apologized and stated that they have already drained the wine-soaked land.
“We take full responsibility for the cleanup and repair costs associated with the damage, having teams available to do so immediately.
“We are committed to resolving this situation as quickly as possible.”
