At least 35 buses and a train were set on fire on Monday afternoon (23) following the death of a criminal in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Of the buses that were set on fire, 20 belong to the municipal operation, 5 are from the BRT, and the rest are tour or charter buses.
Vehicles and tires were also set on fire, blocking roads in the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, Paciência, Cosmos, Sepetiba, Campo Grande, Inhoaíba, Recreio, Barra da Tijuca, and Guaratiba.
On Avenida Brasil, the main expressway in Rio de Janeiro, a section heading to the West Zone was also closed, with a bus blocking the lane.
At 4:50 PM, the city went into a mobilization stage, indicating risks of high-impact incidents in the city.
In addition to the 35 buses, a train was also set on fire in Santa Cruz, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
In a statement, Supervia announced that, temporarily, the stations between Benjamin do Monte and Santa Cruz are closed.
