Rohan Dennis, 33, was arrested following the alleged collision and has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care, and endangering life.

Melissa Dennis, mother of the couple’s two children, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and died shortly after.
Melissa, also a cyclist with an Olympic gold medal, was struck by the vehicle on a tree-lined street in the suburb of Medindie, South Australia, around 8 PM on Saturday.

Dennis’s neighbor told 9News that the couple had just moved into their home on Avenel Gardens Road a week ago with their two young children.

Another neighbor called the incident “tragic” and said, “We’ve never seen anything like this on this street. It was horrible to see.”

Just six days before the alleged incident, Rohan posted a final tragic family photo in front of a Christmas tree.

The caption read: “Merry Christmas from our family to yours.”

After the charges, Rohan was granted bail to appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 13.
