The district of Tirebolu in Giresun was hit by severe weather conditions as torrential rains and storms led to the formation of four-meter-high waves along the eastern coast of the Black Sea.

The waves rose along the coast, creating difficulties for drivers as water accumulated on the Black Sea Coastal Road.

In a dramatic turn of events, a concrete pole for lighting and power transmission was hit by the waves, causing an explosion.

The impact of the storm was felt across Turkey, with at least two people dead and 10 injured.


Floods were reported in many parts of the country, causing structural damage, roof collapses, tree falls, and traffic disruptions. The storm also wreaked havoc in Istanbul, causing further suffering to its citizens.

The Disaster Management Presidency (AFAD) declared orange and yellow threat levels in several provinces, with incidents of injuries and damages reported in Ankara, Giresun, Izmir, and Istanbul.
