The new turnstiles, acquired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), are vulnerable and can be opened with a simple trick: swiping one’s hand over a poorly placed sensor. It has also been discovered that the doors remain open for approximately five seconds, allowing people to pass through the turnstile without paying the fare.
